THVD1420: Maximum deference in receiver propagation delay time

Part Number: THVD1420

Tool/software:

I am using two THVD1420 components.

In receiver mode, what is the maximum skew between these components?

I need this to define the maximum frequency at which I can operate.

Note: Of course, I can take the maximum receiver propagation delay time (75 ns). The datasheet does not specify a minimum value, so I assume the worst case as 0 ns.

This gives a maximum skew of 75 ns between the components. My question is whether there is any additional information to help reduce this time.

  • Hi Ariel,

I don't think we have any other parameters like part to part skew.

I was able to find the database for the validation data for this part. If you provide me with the Vcc and temperature you are curious about I can try to narrow down the prop delays that we measured for this device. (I would still add some margin for whatever values I provide though).

  • Hi Bobby,

This device operates over a very wide temperature range, so I can't provide a specific temperature.
    The nominal voltage is 3.3V.

Can you share the minimum and maximum propagation delays in this scenario?

    Thanks,
    Ariel

  • Hi Ariel,

For Vcc=3.3V, I see that the min value is closer to 35ns and the max value is closer to 50ns.

Higher temperatures increase the prop delay values closer to the 50ns time. Cold temperatures bring you closer to the 35ns time.

At room temp, it will be somewhere in the middle.

I would still apply some level of margin with these values since silicon variation could affect it a little bit.
