Hi Feeny,
To use the TUSB522p to capture an eye diagram you will need a few things.
1) super speed USB host (5Gbps)
2) USB-A or USB-C breakout fixture. This will split the USB connector to SMA cables to connect to the scope
3) USB compliance software on scope
4) You will need to configure the port on the USB host into compliance mode
5) You may need a function generator to manually select which pattern to output from the host.
You want as low loss as possible from the Host to the scope
Steps:
1) Use the compliance software on the USB host to configure the port into compliance mode for 5gbps.
2) Connect breakout fixture to USB host
3) connect SSTXp/n to scope
4) connect function generator at 250mV offset and 500mVpp. send a single pulse from 10-20Mhz to the SSRXp line to chnage the compliance pattern.
5) Run compliance software on scope and adjust pattern accordingly.
Hi Feeny,
Sorry for the delays, I was out on travel. This would be an RX JTOL test. This will not have an eye diagram
for the RX jtol test you will need a host that is placed into loopback mode. Sends out all data it takes in. The SSTX pins will be connected from the BERT to the USB conn. The SSRX will be connected from the USB conn. to the BERT. This is a jitter tolerance test.
