DS110DF410: 8.5Gbps interface

Part Number: DS110DF410
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS110DF111, , DS125DF410, DS125DF111

Tool/software:

For an ARINC 818 interface operating at 6.25 Gbps (with future support for 8.5 Gbps),

I am looking for a component that integrates the following functions within the same package: equalizer, reclocker, and line driver.

It would be beneficial if the component also includes an on-chip eye-opening monitor.

Are DS110DF410 & DS110DF111 devices support 8b/10b coding ?

Would the be suitable for the demands above?

  • Hi Ohad,

Yes, DS110DF410 and DS110DF111 are retimers which include CTLE + DFE equalization, clock and data recovery, TX driver with adjustable de-emphasis, and on-chip eye opening monitor. These devices can support 8b/10b encoded CML signals operating at 8.5Gbps. Unfortunately we do not have a single retimer which can support both 8.5Gbps and 6.25Gbps.

DS125DF410 and DS125DF111 are pin compatible and nearly identical to DS110DF410 and DS110DF111. The key difference is that these devices have a different VCO frequency range. They can support 6.25Gbps but cannot support 8.5Gbps.

  • Hi Lucas,

According to the DS110DF410 datasheet, in chapter 8.4.4 (below table 2) its written:

"For other data rates, it is also necessary to set the expected PPM count and the PPM count tolerance. These are

the values the retimer uses to detect a valid frequency lock."

Does this mean that we can set the frequency to exceed the range of 8.5 to 11.3 Gbps (for example, 6.375 Gbps)?"

  • Hi Ohad,

DS110DF410 can only support data rates in the range 8.5 to 11.3 Gbps, + divide-by-2/4/8 sub-rates. Manual data rate configuration with PPM count and PPM tolerance values is necessary to select data rates within this range that are not included in the standard data rate settings shown in Table 2.

    Best,

    Lucas
