TCAL6416: Are there power sequences for VCCI and VCCP?

Part Number: TCAL6416
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA6416A

Tool/software:

Hi team,

1. May I know if there are any power sequences of VCCI and VCCP? Which one should be powered up first?

Best regards,

Shunsuke Yamamoto

  • Yamamoto-San,

TCAL6416 does not how power sequence requirements like the TCA6416A does.

VCCP / VCCI can power up in any sequence.

    Tyler

  • Hi Tyler-san,

    Thank you for the reply.

May I ask you an additional question?

In my customer's use case, they use daisy chain of I2C interface in their system, so TCAL6416 are connected to several devices such as MCU, DAC etc via I2C interface. We can assume three pattern of power supply.

    1. VCCI is off and VCCP is off

    2. VCCI is on and VCCP is off

    3. VCCI is on and VCCP is on

Regarding the pattern2, does TCAL6416 output low on SDA pin or does TCAL6416 pull SDA pin or SCL pin low? Because it causes the intrruption on I2C communication among other devices such as MCU and DAC.

    Best regards,

    Shunsuke Yamamoto

  • Yamamoto-San,

    2. VCCI is on and VCCP is off

VCCP OFF holds the TCAL6416 in a reset condition until the supply has reached a VPOR.

TCAL6416 should not have the ability to pull SDA/SCL LOW during this power up sequence. THere is no pull down FET on SCL (no clock stretching). There is only a pull-down FET on SDA which is only active when ACK'ing the I2C bus after a valid I2C command/address.

    Regards,
