Tool/software:
Hello team,
If HSS1 output short to battery when on-state, will the chip report fault? Open load fault?
Thanks

Hi Daniel,
If the current through the switch falls below the I_OL(HSS) threshold (which is max 3mA and a minimum of 400uA) then the open load interrupt will be triggered - however the switch will remain in its on state - the only thing that happens is the flag will be raised. An important note is that when the fault is cleared the flag will remain unless cleared by the controller - i.e. the interrupt does not self clear.
So if the battery is shorted to VHSS and HSSx - most likely the current through the switch should be near 0 so it would generally raise the open load interrupt.
Best,
