THVD8000: THVD8000

Part Number: THVD8000

Tool/software:

Hi,

I would like to know if the THVD8000 can be used in a Building Automation application where instead of using the Modbus RTU cable to interface the several sensors and thermostats with the Control Unit you can use the power line (230V).

Also, do you know any application of this type?

Thanks.

Michele

  • Hi Michele,

How fast is the data you are trying to transmit? What is the max distance of the power cable? How many nodes are you expecting to have?

I haven't yet heard of a customer whose done something like this before. We've seen some customers adopt this in HVAC systems where I believe the power line is 24V. With 230V you would need to use an additional line driver and transformer to protect the device from the high voltage and be able to drive through the transformer's load.
