BYTES-3P-BE-AM6254: AM6254 DDR4 speed ratio

Part Number: BYTES-3P-BE-AM6254

Tool/software:

Dear TI colleagues

Regarding AM6254 SOC DDR interface, as the TI EVM design file shows the DDR4 is MT40A1G16KD-062EIT:E, I checked this components spec, the DDR4 speed ratio is 3200 MT/s, but the SOC support max1600MT/s only.  does it ok?

another question related with LPDDR4 from Micron,

The closest density in x16 is a 1,5GB (12Gb), MT53E768M16D1ZW-046 AIT:C.

Not sure this is the best option for a cost reduction path, considering that this device also requires 17 bit row addressing so you need to check if the controller is capable of using it.

  • Yajun, as long as the speed grade of the device is equal to or greater than the max supported transfer rate of the SoC, then it can be used.  So for AM62x, you would need to use a memory speed grade of 1600MTs or greater.

You need to choose a power-of-2 density.  So either 1GB or 2GB devices would work.  1.5GB devices are not supported.
