DS90UB983-Q1EVM:DS90UB984-Q1EVM

Part Number: DS90UB983-Q1EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB984-Q1EVM

Tool/software:

I have a few technical questions regarding the DS90UB983-Q1EVM and DS90UB984-Q1EVM, and I would appreciate your assistance with the following:

  1. Does the system support the following connection method: PC -> DS90UB983-Q1EVM -> FPD link cable -> DS90UB984-Q1EVM -> panel (either one or two panels)?
  2. Is there a cable available for connecting the DS90UB983-Q1EVM and DS90UB984-Q1EVM? If so, could you please provide the part number?
  3. Could you clarify the configuration setting for the "Onboard I2C addresses and Mode select" feature?
  4. Does the system support DisplayPort or embedded DisplayPort Rx/Tx compliance testing?

Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to your response.

  • Hi Daniel,

This post seems to be a copy of another thread: https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface-group/interface/f/interface-forum/1484797/interface-forum/

    1. Yes, you can can connect any DP source (SoC, FPGA, PC with configurable DP output, etc) to the DS90UB983-Q1EVM. And the FPD-Link connection should be either with a coax cable or STP cable. In the case of this particular EVM sets, you can use an H-MTD cable. And the DP/eDP outputs can be connected to one or two panels using DP0/1 outputs of the 984 EVM.

    2. They can be connected using H-MTD cables and you can find the cable part numbers in the EVM User Guide's "Cables Information" table

    3. The 983 and 984 devices can be set up for different I2C addresses and mode selections to change the configurations such as input/out video interface configuration, FPD4/FPD3 modes, data rates and independent or dual configurations. These are set using the IDx and MODE_SELx pins, and on the EVMs with the the onboard switches.

    4. The datasheet mentions that the 983 is DP/eDP v1.4 compatible and the 984 is VESA DP v1.4a/eDP v1.4b transmitter
