DP83867IS: Recommend RJ45

Part Number: DP83867IS
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83867IR,

Tool/software:

Hi All,

I have a question about DP83867.

I'm using WE-RJ45LAN as the RJ45 connector.

The WE-RJ45 LAN Transformer has a built-in center tap termination, but is it not recommended?

Also, is the combination of the WE-RJ45 LAN Transformer and DP83867IR, which have separate built-in decoupling capacitors, not recommended?

Which RJ45 do you recommend?

Best Regards,
Ishiwata

  • Hi Ishiwata-san,

We recommend RJ45 connectors like the second one with the separate decoupling capacitors for each center tap of the channel.
For your reference, below is the screenshot of the recommended RJ45 connector described in the datasheet.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best,
    J

  • Hi J-san,

    Thank you for your reply.

Please tell me the name of the RJ45 product you recommend.

I checked the EVM but could not understand the RJ45 specifications.

    Best Regards,
    Ishiwata

  • Hi Ishitwata-san,
We typically recommend Pulse Electronics HX5008FNL according to the datasheet. This connector does not have built-in capacitors for the center tap so they will have to be placed externally.

Also, is the combination of the WE-RJ45 LAN Transformer and DP83867IR, which have separate built-in decoupling capacitors, not recommended?

This connector would fit according to our recommendation also.

    Best,
    J

  • Hi J-san,

    Thank you for your answer.

By the way, is the RJ45 (7499111446) like the one below a transformer that is not recommended for the DP83867IS?

    Best Regards,
    Ishiwata

  • Hi Ishiwata san,

No, that transformer (7499111446) is not recommended because the center taps for all channels are shorted. We recommend center taps to be separate for each channel for the best EMI performance.

    Best,
    J
