LMH0384: propagation delay or latency

Part Number: LMH0384
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH0324

Tool/software:

Hi,

Could you please tell me the propagation delay or latency from when a signal is input to SDI and /SDI to when it is output from SDO and /SDO?

Best Regards,

Nishie

  • Hi Yuta,

Similar to your other question, I'll need to see whether we have this data. I'm also curious if you have a specific need for propagation delay between SDI and SDO?

    Best,

    Shane

  • Hi Shane-san,

    Thank you for your support.

In a customer's application, image processing is done using FPGA. Since we need to be careful about latency in image processing, we would like to know how much latency there is by processing signals through LMH0384. If we don't know the exact numerical value, we would like to know the value, such as in the order of milliseconds or nanoseconds.

    Best Regards,

    Nishie

  • Hi Yuta,

While we don't have concrete data on this, I estimate the latency for this part would be around a nanosecond at 3G. This is because the latency of our cable drivers/equalizers falls around 2-3 Unit intervals, where 1 UI is equal to one bit length at the operating data rate. At 3G this is around 333 picoseconds per UI

You can see this described in a similar E2E regarding the LMH0324. The LMH0324 is another one of our cable equalizers that should have similar latency.

    Best,

    Shane
