TCAN1162-Q1: TCAN1162-Q1 IO Analysis

Part Number: TCAN1162-Q1

Tool/software:

We are powering our entire design with 5V ; hence we are using 5V for CAN Transceiver IO supply ,which is possible as per the datasheet.

But in the electrical spec of RXD and TXD pins ,spec is provided for VIO = 3.3V.

Here Voh(min) is 0.8V ,but in our controller side Vih(min) is 3.5V.

But in RXD Output characteristics all units are referred to Vio , so should we consider it as VIO x 0.8V = 5 x 0.8 =4V ?

  • Hi Mayank,

But in RXD Output characteristics all units are referred to Vio , so should we consider it as VIO x 0.8V = 5 x 0.8 =4V ?

This is correct. If VIO=5, then for RXD VIH=4V and VIL=1V.

That Section 7.7 header where 3.3V is mentioned describes the universal testing conditions unless the specific datasheet value says otherwise.

Let me know if that answers your question or if you have any further questions!
