DP83848Q-Q1: EOL of the transceiver IC

We have no plans for EOL at this moment. Please note that 10/100 Mbps only supports 2 pair standard ethernet interface. Only 1G uses 4 pair standard ethernet on the MDI. A 10/100 device would only use 2 pairs (4 pins) of the RJ-45 pinout.

 Thanks for the information shared on the EOL and the interface the IC supports. 2 pair ethernet is okay for us. We have checked the availability of the IC in both digikey and mouser. So we are proceeding our ECU design using DP83848Q-Q1. Kindly confirm.

  One more clarification required for DP83848Q-Q1 IC. We found that VDDIO for the chip is 3.3V, but in our case the ethernet interface signals are all 1.8V level. Any solutions you recommend to interface the ethernet controller to PHY chip in this case. Kindly reply.

Hello,

You may look to add some type of level shifter, but it will be critical to ensure timings are okay. Else, you will need to switch devices to our more modern portfolio such as DP8382x family, which does support 1.8V VDDIO natively.
