Hi team,

My customer is using DS90UB928, do you know any method that they can detect if the link partner is connected when link partner is not transmit any data?

Customer need DS90UB928 report if the link partner is connect or not, in order to check if the cable is broken.

You can use Register 0x7 to read the serializer I2C address.

No, it does not. It just depends on if there is an upstream SER detected.

This is also true for UB941 DES_ID_DES_ID_1 Register (Address = 0x6), right? Indicate DES present.

UB941 GENERAL_STS Register (Address = 0xC) bit 0 LINK_DETECT also Indicate DES present. It is exactly the same, right?

Yes. Register 0x6 gives you the DES address while Register 0xC Bit 0 indicates if there is link detected. For the purposes of detecting if there is a downstream DES, both can be used.
