DS90UB924-Q1: Current consumption

Part Number: DS90UB924-Q1

Tool/software:

Hello team,

My customer needs to modify the current consumption, here your two questions kindly ask your support:

1. Will OSS_SEL influence the current consumption? Now they pull up this pin with 10k resistor, is there a register to disable the output state rather HW?

2. Customer found the current is different when turn off OEN only and disable OEN+OSS_SEL? Why there is such difference, what is the current influence for the function? Any consideration points for the configuration?

Thanks!

Regards,

Daniel Wang

  • Hi Daniel,

What is the background for needing to modify the current consumption?

    1. Will OSS_SEL influence the current consumption? Now they pull up this pin with 10k resistor, is there a register to disable the output state rather HW?

OSS_SEL controls whether the 924 is in sleep mode or not. When OSS_SEL is low, it will disable GPIO and OLDI output as noted in the table listed in the datasheet. 924 register 0x02 can be used to override HW settings for OEN and OSS_SEL.

    2. Customer found the current is different when turn off OEN only and disable OEN+OSS_SEL? Why there is such difference, what is the current influence for the function? Any consideration points for the configuration?

When only OEN is disabled, all outputs are at high impedance. When both OEN+OSS_SEL are disabled, all outputs are set low. This is depicted in 924 datasheet Table 5 that is above.

    Best,

    Jack
