DS90UB936-Q1: EQ level vs insertion loss suggestion

Part Number: DS90UB936-Q1

Tool/software:

hi team,

Could you suggest a suitable EQ level? Customer would like to change the AEQ_min and AEQ_max to improve the link robustness and avoid EQ lock to a wrong level.

We are running the MAP to get some guidance, at the same time, pls check are there any 93x/95x insertion loss vs EQ suggestion table available to make a comprehensive decision of EQ setting.

- 935+936 sync mode with 4Gbps fpd-rate

- EE is E-mirror application with 10m coax cable

- Insertion loss test result as below -15db@2Gbps

Regards,

Dongbao

  • Hello,

The device will automatically lock to a valid EQ level as part of the adaptive equalization feature. If changing the AEQ min and AEQ max of the EQ window is desired, it is recommend to choose values based on MAP results. The MAP results will show which EQ levels have multiple passing positions. For example, in the MAP result below and min of 8 and a max of 10 would be suitable. Also please note that the overall health of the link is dependent on both the devices connections and cable. So ensure to use the intended cables for results that are representative of the final system.

  • Can you double check my questions? i am not asking how to use MAP results to fix the EQ range, it's fpd channel insertion loss vs EQ mapping table. i want to make sure both approaches have similar results

  • Insertion loss results are not used to determine EQ ranges. If changing the AEQ min and AEQ max of the EQ window is desired, the MAP tool should be used.
