DP83826E: unique (factory set) address

Part Number: DP83826E

Tool/software:

Hi, I am using DP83826ERHBR and wondering if there's a unique factory-set PHY address assigned to it?

Please advise. Thanks for your timely attention and help.

  • There is no standard that defines a "PHY address" (the MAC address applies to the MAC), and the DP83826E does not have some vendor-specific unique ID either. (The PHYIDR1/2 registers have the same value for all chips.)

  • Hi,

Similar to Clemens' answer, the PHY address is not factory set. If you are referring to the Serial Management Interface (SMI) PHY address, this can be set by strapping the following pins on the DP83826E:

The SMI pins (MDIO and MDC) are used for register access on the PHY.

    Best,

    Shane
