DS90UB962-Q1: Cable length for 53ft application on DS90UB962

Hi Sir,

 My customer want to design a receiver for truck application with 53ft cable length. Is DS90UB962 can be used at this application by using STP or Coaxial cable? Any TX device or cable spec. are required for this application? Please help to provide your suggestion. Thanks.

    Hello Gary,

    The main requirement for our FPD-Link devices is to meet the IL/RL limits defined under the Total Channel Specifications in the 962 datasheet (under worst-case temperature and current load conditions).

    Please see 7.4.7.2 Channel Requirements in the 962 datasheet for the full details for COAX and STP cables. 

    Also note that the serializer PCB, the cable, and the deserializer PCB all contribute to loss on the overall high-speed channel. Customer would need to confirm that their entire high-speed channel is within the IL/RL limits defined in the Channel Specs document, for the operating frequency range of our SER/DES devices. They can also limit the operating range of the SER/DES devices to passs IL/RL, but that may come at a cost of reduced video bandwidth.
