TCA9554: TCA9554 - interupt pin unused

The /INT pin is an output and can be left open.

To reset the chip, cut its power. But there is not much internal state; you can just rewrite the three registers instead.

The interrupt pin is an open-drain output and can be left floating. I agree with Clemens here. 

As for the reset condition, Clemens is also correct, you would need to power cycle the device since there is no external reset. 

There is an alternative approach with a similar device: 

The TCA9538 has replaced pin 3 (A2) with /RESET pin. Otherwise, the pinout, package type, voltage range, data rate, register map, is all the same.

Would TCAL9538 work? 

TCAL9538 is p2p to TCA9538, but is only up to 3.6V on VCC. 

The TCAL9538 can have the I/O's programmed with internal PU resistors.
