The TRS3122E allows to use a supply voltage lower than 3.3 V, but this feature is not used in this reference design. In theory, any 3.3 V RS-232 transceiver should work.

Hi David,

As Clemens pointed out. It should be able to replace TRS3122E but the ISO device used in that reference design doesn't support lower than 3V on its voltage supply.
