DP83822I: LED_1 / GPIO1 for EtherCAT LINK/Activity

Part Number: DP83822I

Tool/software:

Dear Team,

My customer is evaluating the DP83822I in their system.
They would like to use the LED_1/GPIO1 pins of the DP83822I to display the link/activity of the EtherCAT communication.
It seems that LED_1/GPIO1 pins cannot be set to link/activity in the pin strap setting.
But is it correct to think that it can be used for link/activity display by setting the LEDCFG1 register [11:8] of 0x0460 to 1000?
Is there anything I should be aware of when doing this?

Best Regards,

Koshi Ninomiya

  • Hi Ninomiya-san,

LED_1 can be configured via register after the PHY is turned on. Note that LED_1 will always be configured to your pin strap setting so the register 0x0460 will always have to be configured to the correct value after power-on/reset happens.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best,
    J
