HD3SS215: HDMI channels order and polarity

Part Number: HD3SS215

Tool/software:

Hi all,

I'd like to ask whether it makes a difference how the HDMI channels are arranged for this particular switch (HD3SS215). At the same time, is it going to be work if I flip the polarity within the source side channels, as long as I flip them back on the sink side? Change in the order and polarity would make the PCB layout much cleaner, as my sources and sink do not readily match with the switch channels/polarity. I've attached a schematic overlaid with the suggested rearrangements. Based on the block diagram in the datasheet, I'd imagine this would be fine, but still wanted to confirm.

Thanks a lot.

  • Hi Elias,

This looks to be a valid way to use this device and the device should work properly here based on previous e2es and the diagram in the datasheet.

If you would like Please send again the schematic diagram of this device and I can take a look to make sure that is correct as well.( I am not able to see it right now)

    Regards,

    Kameorn

  • Hi Kameron,

thank you very much for your reply. That's good news to me. I've sketched together a schematic representing how I'm about to use this device (please see below). The pin labels should correspond to those in the TI datasheet. Thanks again for your review.

  • Hi Ellas,

Everything on your schematic looks correct but the only question I have here is about your logic control section

From what I see right here you are going to send 3.3V to the enable pin and then 1.65V to the Aux sel pin( because you have a voltage divider there)

Is your intention to send a logic low to the aux select pin?

Please let me know if this is the case and if I am misunderstanding something.

    Regards,

    Kameron

  • Hi Kameron,

I read from the datasheet that for HDMI application, the AUX_SEL should be fixed at mid-voltage (1.65V in this case). The other aux pins would remain floating (not shown in my schematic). I only control the Dx_SEL between 0V and 3.3V in order to make the HDMI source selection. Does that seem right?

    Best regards,
    -Elias

  • Hi Elias,

You are correct and I do the this note in the datasheet.

There are not issues i see with your design.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

    Regards,

    Kameron
