DS320PR810: working condition double check

Part Number: DS320PR810

Tool/software:

Hi  Team,

My customer want to check the working status of DS320PR810. They want to make sure the CTLE and line driver is working as expected. Is there any way to check

Background is they found their NIC was not connected normally. According to their design the margin is quite enough. They readback the registers of DS320PR810. It was right. Is there any other thing they can do double check the working status of TI redriver?

Thanks.

  • Hi Victor,

Thank you for reaching out regarding this observation. Could you please help to detail the problem a bit further by answering the questions below?

    • What test/setup configuration is the DS320PR810 being used in? (ex. PCIe link-width, add-in-card or motherboard, root complex vendor, endpoint NIC vendor)
    • What symptoms of failure and abnormal connection is the customer observing with their NIC when connected through the DS320PR810?
    • What registers have been checked in the DS320PR810 and what readback values was observed by the customer?

    Best,
    David

  • Hi  David,

Base on the log, LTSSM status as below, we saw a lot of framing error(CRC), the device is keeping recovering. It may not cause by DS320PR810, we just want a method to check if TI redriver is working normally.

    29 ) [G5] State [0x70] L0                       2 : 0     Usec ,Width=16  Framing Error

    28 ) [G5] State [0xa0] Recover_Receiver_Lock    0 : 8     Usec ,Width=16

    27 ) [G5] State [0xa2] Recover_Config           0 : 0     Usec ,Width=16

    26 ) [G5] State [0xa3] Recover_Idle             0 : 0     Usec ,Width=16

    25 ) [G5] State [0x70] L0                       2 : 0     Usec ,Width=16  Framing Error

    24 ) [G5] State [0xa0] Recover_Receiver_Lock    0 : 8     Usec ,Width=16

    23 ) [G5] State [0xa2] Recover_Config           0 : 0     Usec ,Width=16

    22 ) [G5] State [0xa3] Recover_Idle             0 : 0     Usec ,Width=16

    21 ) [G5] State [0x70] L0                       2 : 0     Usec ,Width=16  Framing Error

    20 ) [G5] State [0xa0] Recover_Receiver_Lock    0 : 8     Usec ,Width=16

    19 ) [G5] State [0xa2] Recover_Config           0 : 3111  Usec ,Width=16

    18 ) [G5] State [0xa3] Recover_Idle             0 : 0     Usec ,Width=16

  • Hi Victor,

Could you please read back the DS320PR810 registers, either using the device programming guide as a reference for main device registers, or the device's SigCon Architect GUI profile (available by request on the product page)? This would give us a better idea of what EQ settings are being used for the DS320PR810.

Additionally, do you have an estimation of where the redrivers are placed in the system? What is the approximate insertion loss between Switch <-> Redriver and Redriver <-> Slot?

    Best,
    David
