TCAN1044A-Q1: Additional Resources to explain why SPLIT pin is not required in modern transceivers

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1043

Tool/software:

Hello, Team,

Our customer is looking for a document to explain to OEM why modern CAN Transceivers do not require a SPLIT pin.

Do we have additional resources to explain why modern transceivers do not require SPLIT pin?

We only found paragraphs such as below and not described in detail:

Newer CAN transceivers, like the TCAN family from TI don't need the SPLIT pin. Devices like the TCAN1042 and TCAN1043 are able to pass emissions certifications for the automotive market without the SPLIT pin assistance. This is due to these devices being designed in a modern process to create a better symmetry on the CANH and CANL signals. This leaves very little deviation in the differential signals, which cause the common-mode noise to be inherently low.

Best,
Masaru
