Hi,

For some reason, I have to choose a part number, but I am actually looking for a recommendation.

I’m using a repeater (89HP0604Q IDT) and am looking for a replacement.

The data rate is a maximum of 6Gbps, coming from a 5m cable.

I need an IC that can operate without I2C (resistor straps).

The package size has to be a maximum of 3x6.5mm.

Two channels are preferred.

The same part number will be used for both the receiver and transmitter.

Please help me find an appropriate IC.

Hi,

Before I give a part recommendation, can you share a few more details about your application? This will help me to recommend the best suited device.

What protocol is being used? Is it SAS2, SATA3, or eSATA?
Do you have an estimate for the insertion loss in this system?
Does the redriver need to support 2 unidirectional channels, or 2 bidirectional lanes (4 differential pairs total)?
Do you require mux/demux, fanout, or crosspoint functionality?

Hey

The signal is a generic signal (the FPGA transmits in a format called "high-speed differential IO").
Unfortunately, I don't have an insertion loss estimation.

The redriver shall support 2 independent differential unidirectional channels.

I don’t need any special functionality.

Hi Yoav,

Thank you for the info. I recommend using DS100BR210. This is a 2-channel redriver which supports up to 10.3Gbps. EQ boost capability should be enough to compensate for a 5m cable. All setting can be configured with pin straps only.

Hi Yoav,

Thank you for the reminder on package size requirement.

SN75LVCP600 has a package size of 2mm x 2mm. However this redriver only supports 1 channel, so 2 units are necessary.

This device has CTLE boost up to 14dB @ 3GHz. It's unclear to me if this is enough to compensate for your cable without knowing insertion loss estimate.

Hi Yoav,

I reviewed our catalog of redrivers which can support 6Gbps. I do not see any other devices which meet your package size requirement. Most of our 2 channel redrivers have a 4mm x 4mm package.
