TCAN1057A-Q1: Max speed/SIC function reduce ringing

Part Number: TCAN1057A-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1472-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi,

Could you support the question from my customer?

①We are considering changing the communication speed of CANFD to 5Mbps or 8Mbps
The data sheet shows that the TCAN1057 can support up to 8 Mbps, so you can guarantee 8 Mbps without any problems, right?
Sometimes there are manufacturers who ask you to avoid using it with Spec MAX, so please check it.

②both TCAN1057AVD*Q1 and TCAN1057AVDRB*Q1
I think there is an SIC function to reduce bus ringing. Does the TCAN1057 support the SIC function?
The SIC function is provided as standard, and does it not need to be configured to use the SIC function externally?
Does the SIC function reduce ringing at 5Mbps or 8Mbps?

BR,

Taku

  • Hi Taku,

    1. Yes the device supports up to 8 Mbps under the conditions defined in the data sheet. Manufacturers may not specify max due to variations in system design. Please refer to the data sheet layout guidelines if interested in max.

    2. SIC is built into the device by default and additional configuration is not needed. It reduces ringing that would have been present at any speed. I do not see where this device mentions SIC. Please see TCAN1472-Q1 instead, thanks

    Best Regards,

    Michael.
