SN65HVD234: Industrial CAN Demo Informtaion

Part Number: SN65HVD234

Tool/software:

I have a three board Industrial Automation CAN demo (MN04, SN04 and SM04). They are all labeled "Sensor Node CBSN-1 and CBSM-1" in the copper.  DB9 interconnections for the CAN BUS. The CBSM-1 appears to be the master with an extra serial DB9 to go to a PC?  Has a TMX320 DSP.  The other two are the CBSN-1 and have a TMS320 and a PAV338.

We would like to use these boards to evaluate our SN65HVD234 CAN product.  Any chance of getting some software to documentation?  Or trade?

  • Hi Chuck,

Please note that you have reached out to the CAN transceiver group.

Unfortunately, we are not experts on TMS DSPs and can mainly support the physical / electrical layer and not the controller / software layer and would recommend reaching out to the appropriate groups for the demo boards / TMS devices , thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Michael.

  • Hello Michael

Perhaps you missed the part where we are trying to test our TI CAN based product with the demo board trio I described above.  This board was around when I was a TI apps engineer. I figured your resources are deeper in the archive than the general search engine I have access to.

We are not interested in any DSPs. I included them in the description of the three TI CAN demo boards as the software folks may have recognized the processor at the center of the three boards.  These were demonstrating various industrial interfaces, LEDs, motor drives, etc with TI CAN transceivers.

The transceivers  I could identify have VP prefixes. Not sure if those were preliminary proto parts.  Schematic and code would be a great help.  Or you might want to trade a current tool for these "collector's items" in the history of TI CAN.  I can (pun intended) send pictures if you are interested.

  • The SN65HVD234 indeed has the marking "VP234".

There is a schematic at ti.com/lit/pdf/sler003. It has some contact information, but from 2003, so I doubt that you will be able to get the software.
