TMDS261B: Need too know the HDMI switch IC preferred for swapping

Like there will we Tx and Rx both if we consider 1 HDMI as both input and output.

So if there is any switch that might help to decide which is transmitting and which is receiving based on Hot Plug Detect, so that the data can be given to the TMDS retimer or Driver SN75DP.

I will share the block diagram soon if i get the logic completely.

Can you please just verify my block diagram and tell me whether i can use the switch IC.

Can you please tell whether if 1 HDMI connector acts as a input then the other will be output. So when the PLL Tx is input to the one of the output of the switch will that be able to provide the path to the output connector

The TS3DV642 is a bi-direction MUX so it will support both HDMI in and HDMI out. I would put a re-timer between TS3DV642 and the HDMI connector, and re-driver between MPSOC and TS3DV642.

You are correct, this is a mistake on my part. The re-timer or re-driver can only handle either input or output, but not both. 

Do you plan to pass HDMI compliance with this design? One of the issue you will have with the original block diagram is that the Ron of the TS3DV642 will push the total differential termination to be outside of the HDMI spec and failed the compliance. If you don't need to pass the compliance, then your block diagram looks ok.

Thanks for the help, but  have one doubt .How can i control the voltage like when the connector is used a input it should receive the voltage but when used a s output should disable the receiving and provide the voltage.

The TMDS is a current mode standard. When the design is an input, the re-driver or re-timer receiver provides the 50ohm termination to 3.3V while the source output is a current mode driver. When the design is an output, the re-driver or re-timer output is a current mode driver while the sink provides the 50ohm termination 3.3V.

The TS3DV642 itself does not provide any voltage.

Can you suggest me some IC by which i can control the voltage based on the requirement,

1) When HDMI Cable is inserted it should sink the voltage as per HDMI requirement.

2) When HDMI cable is taking from the other connector it should source the voltage to the cable.

3) 5V is the voltage

Hi Irfan,

The TS3DV642 doesn't support this kind of application as it does not provide voltage. This device  is passive device and it will can support source and sinking signals but it doesnt generate them. 

Do you have a example of the kind of IC your are looking for as I can try to find the right ti team that has this kind of device.

If this is the case, then unfortunately we do not have a power MUX that can support this.
