Hi,

we are developing a card using pcie gen redriver (DS320PR1601), in order to attain 85 ohm impedance, trace width and intra pair spacing is 8 mils respectively.

while routing it is observed that at redriver ic pins necking is needed, does this cause impedance mismatch?

can you mention the tool you use for impedance calculation

    Hello Shekha,

    Please take a look at the DS320PR1601RSCEVM's layout as a reference for layout for 85 Ohm impedance width/spacing recommendations and layout near the BGA balls of this device.

    Typically a PCB layout simulation tool like Ansys SiWave could be used for impedance simulation. Additionally, HFSS could be used for 3D PCB simulation as well if needed.
