DP83869HM: Can the DP83869HM be used for fiber ethernet without an SFP module?

In the DP83869HM datasheet Figure 8-4 a Fiber Transceiver is displayed.

In Figure 8-5 an SFP module is displayed.

Can you verify that the DP83869HM can interface to other fiber transceivers than SFP?

For instance the FTE8504K1LTN from Coherent? This would obviously limit the support to either MMF or SMF, according to the optical transceiver chosen, but is it possible?

I would like to omit an SFP module for my design due to a harsh mechanical environment.
