TCAN1042G-Q1: Layout Issue

Part Number: TCAN1042G-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

Customer would like to put TCAN1042 back-to-back on the board, it means that one device put on top and the other put on the bottom, CANH and CANL connect by vias. Is there any problem with such layout? Is there anything customer needs to pay attention to when laying on the board? Thanks in advance.

BRs,

Francis

  • Hi Francis,

I presume only one device will be active at a time and would recommend 0 ohms jumpers to disable STB for the unused device. Would recommend keeping vias short, using only one via per signal path, and placing ground vias nearby to preserve return paths and minimize loop area while ensuring symmetrical routing between the two devices and avoiding stubs by isolating with 0 ohms to cleanly remove the path.

They should also share a solid ground and both devices locally decoupled with 100 nF near VCC, thanks.

    Best Regards,

    Michael.
