TMUXHS4212: layouting for type-C connector and hub

Part Number: TMUXHS4212
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB8044

Tool/software:

Hi team,

I have a question about layouting for TMUXHS4212 and TUSB8044.

Between TMUXHS4212 and type-C connector (as suggested by the datasheet). There are many cross overs.

Can they put it in ther other side of the PCB? the purple dots are vias.

Same for TUSB8044. The layout between the HUB and TMUXHX4212.

Can you put vias in between?

So, the solution will look like:

TUSB8044 <-[vias]-> TMUXHS4212 <-[vias]-> Type-C connector.

What do you think?

Thanks,

Luke

  • Hi Luke,

    Vias are tricky. You can certainly put vias but be aware they add parasitics so they'll need to be evaluated properly. But there's nothing necessarily stopping you. Just try and minimize the trace lengths and how many vias you have.

    Thanks,
    Rami
