LMH0387: Max Operational Junction Temperature

Part Number: LMH0387

Tool/software:

Hi

I need to know what the highest operational Junction temperature for this device is?

The data sheet has an Operating Free Air Temperature of +85C, but as far as I can see, the data sheet doesn't define how the device is mounted or what power the device was taking for this measurement. So it isn't possible to accurately calculate junction temperature from the Free Air Temperature.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Steve

  • Hi Steve,

Table 6.1 gives an absolute maximum junction temperature of 125C.

You can reference table 6.4 when doing the junction to ambient temperature conversion. We list thermal metrics in the table that will help with that calculation.

  • Hi Nick

So it is safe to ignore the note 1 from Table 6.1.

"Stresses beyond those listed under Absolute Maximum Ratings may cause permanent damage to the device. These are stress ratings
only, which do not imply functional operation of the device at these or any other conditions beyond those indicated under Recommended
    Operating Conditions."

    Thanks

    Steve

  • Hi Steve,

The note 1 from Table 6.1 is basically saying that just because the Absolute Maximum Rating is well above the Recommended Operating Conditions that does not mean that you can have guaranteed operation in between the Recommended Operating Conditions and Absolute Maximum Rating.

If you want, let me know more about what your project is and we can see what we can do to help.

    Best regards,
