Dear Members

[Question1] During repeated USB connection and disconnection tests to verify USB recognition,

we encountered a failure where the USB was not recognized.

After only replacing the TUSB522P, normal operation was restored.
We used an Iexternal USB port as shown in the attached file and USB Port of PC Mother board.
Are there any recommended protection circuits or circuit improvements to prevent such failures?

[Question2]

Currently, the OS[1:2], EQ[1:2], and DE[1:2] pins are left floating.
If there are any recommended mode settings for these pins, please let us know.

HI,

What is the part name for the ESD used here? We recommend a clamping voltage close to 5V.

I'm converting USB 5.0V to 3.3V using an LDO and supplying it to the TUB522P.

The LDO is not damaged, so it doesn't seem to be an issue with the TVS diode.
Do you have any recommended settings for [qUESTION2]?

Do you mean you wait for Vbus to be supplied before powering the TUSB522p?

The TUSB522 receives a 3.3V power supply after the USB cable is connected.

Should the circuit be modified so that 3.3V is supplied to the TUSB522 before connecting the USB cable?

Hi,

Its best to have the TUSB522p powered by a constant internal power supply as this will keep the part in a known state. If the part is powered by Vbus, then when LFPS signaling is sent across to the redriver, terminations may not be properly set. This may be why there is damage.

Additionally we recommend you use the ESD diode (PUSB3FR4).
