Hi all,

I have to develop one Ethernet interfaces IEEE802.3 (10BASE-T / 100 BASE-T) and shall be able to detect line short circuiting and line break.

And all Ethernet Interfaces should also support auto line crossing.

For these specification i have to use RJ45 Connector.

Can any one tell me Which RJ45 connector I should use or suggest me the circuitry that i can use for support all the above feature.

Any standard RJ45 similar to the one exist in the following link will work fine.

Hi Ofir,

Thanks for the suggestion. But can you clarify how the connector will support "LINE BREAK,LINE SHORT CIRCUITING and AUTO CROSS OVER"

Shall I need to use any IC, if any method can be applied to achieve the above mentioned specification, Please suggest me.

Hello,

Attached is the schematics of our TLK110 customer EVM.

Please use it as reference for your design.

In order to support the cable diagnostic you need the TLK100/TLK110 device in additon to magnetic and RJ45.

The device uses Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) to determine the quality of the cables, connectors,

and terminations in addition to estimating the cable length.

As for the AUTO CROSS OVER it replace between the RX channel and the TX channel since both of them connected to the RJ45.

Please read the TLK100 datasheet for detailed information about the TDR and the AUTO CROSS OVER features.
