Part Number: MAX3232

Tool/software:

Dear Technician

Here is Susan from ZD COMPONENTS.

I have a technical question I would like to ask you,we have a TI part MAX3232IDR,but we found the Leads frame and die size are different between D/C 2021+ and 2023+.

I have found out the PCN of marking but i can't find out the PCN of the Leads frame, could you tell me is there any change after 2021+?Can you send me the PCN document of the  Leads frame?

We need to ensure that this is correct and there are no functional changes in order to produce,so pls help to check and advise.
Thank you so much for your support!
Susan

  • Hi Susan,

Thanks for reaching out about this device difference. There are only 2 PCNs between 2021 and 2023: the one you found about the device marking and another describes the MAX3232IDR obsoletion. Although the obsoletion PCN was released in 2022, the last day devices were shipped was August 2023, so this device looks to be in that last batch. Note that this device was obsoleted to push towards the improved ESD version (MAX3232EIDR), nothing is faulty about your particular device.

I have reached out to our design team to see if they know why there is a difference.

The datasheet does mention that in 2021 the thermal parameters were updated. So this might indicate an internal change. However, since there is no specific PCN or change in the datasheet about the device functionality, there will be no functional changes.

I will update you once I get a response from our internal team.

    Best,

    Ethan

  • Hi Susan,

Thanks for your patience. I recently got a response, and there are no functional changes to the device.

    Best,
