Customer old projects UB941+UB948 in dual link mode works normally for 3 years. There is some below reserved register setting when they check the code. Original SW engineer is already gone. They don't understand this part of code. Could you help to check what is the function of these write? Is there any potential risk? Thanks

Hi Ryan,

Are these writes to the 941 or 948? Are they using a custom script they developed? Can you provide the script they are using? Are they seeing any issues with the 941+948 system now?

These are written to UB941.

Their 941+948 system works fine. Per my understanding, TI doesn't provide script for UB941. They just simply enable "I2C pass through" and set some slave ID+ alias for UB941. Then system works fine.

Original SW engineer is gone. They just don't understand these piece of code which is written to UB941 reserve registers. Maybe it is some mistake by last SW engineer. Just confirm with you whether it is necessary or not.

Hi Ryan,

That's correct. We do not need any script to initialize the 941. This code is not necessary.

Understand this code is not necessary. However, there is already many product in the field. Customer wants to know whether there is any risk for this registers programmed?

Just checked the internal register map. Everything is ok because those are default values for the registers anyways.
