DP83561-SP: Time Triggered Ethernet

Part Number: DP83561-SP

Tool/software:

I was wondering if DP83561-SP supports Time Triggered Ethernet (SAE AS6802)?

I was looking through the datasheet, but I could not find any specific references to it.

  • Hi Steve,

Let me look into this and get back to you.

  • Hi Steve,

Reading the description, this standard seems more relevant to your MAC (processor) than the Ethernet PHY. In Time triggered ethernet, the end systems transmit ethernet frames with the option to synchronize these transmissions:

Our PHY will transmit ethernet frames based on when data is received from the MAC. Essentially data passes through our PHY and we only translate between MII (MAC) and MDI (ethernet) protocols. If the MAC is compliant to this standard and is able to account for our PHY's latency, I believe it would be ok to use DP83561-SP.

Just to confirm, does the customer need a specific function from the PHY to support this spec (timestamping/low latency/...)?

    Best,

    Shane
