This is allowed, even for a long time. See [FAQ] Can the input voltage (Vi) to my logic device be higher than the supply voltage (Vcc)?

The FAQ describes how to determine this from the absolute maximum ratings. The absolute maximum ratings of these two ICs allow this.

Hi Wentao,

For additional support, the abs. max conditions in the datasheet show that the input voltage can be within range of -0.5V to 4.6V for A-port and -0.5V to 6.5V for B-port.

This is for the TCA9406DCUR device.
