TIC12400-Q1: RESERVED bits in registers

Tool/software:

There are RESERVED bits in some registers suck as bit23-10 in Current Source/Sink Selection Register (Offset = 1Ch) .

When to configure this register, we will write 0b00000000000000 to these reserved bits. is it OK ? it have no any impact to the function of this register, right? Thanks!

Current Source/Sink Selection Register (Offset = 1Ch) only IN0 to IN9 can configure CSI and CSO, other channels are all CSO

Hello Hou,

I have not gone through all reserved bits to verify if one can impact the device but I know some are used for internal debugging. Given that these bits are reserved and could impact the part, I would avoid writing to them.

Hello Josh,

For the registers with reserved bits, how do you suggest to write? 1, read value 2, only change the value of non-reserved bits 3, write back ?

Hello Hou,

Write to the register like you would normally do but leave the reserved bits to 0.

Let's use Source/Sink Selection register (1Ch) as an example and say I want to configure INx with the following configuration

IN0 = Source
IN1 = Sink
IN2 = Source
IN3 = Source
IN4 = Sink
IN5 = Source
IN6 = Sink
IN7 = Sink
IN8 = Sink
IN9 = Source

I would write 0x1D2 or 0b000000000000000111010010 to the register.

------ This is the write method I expect and it is with high efficiency.

Does it mean that changing the value of registers but setting reserved bits as 0b0...0 is OK, no impact the part?
