DP83TD510E-EVM: Clarification on Use of 2512 Package for 2 kΩ Resistors in DP83TD510E Eval Board

Part Number: DP83TD510E-EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83TD510E

Tool/software:

During the analysis of the DP83TD510E Ethernet PHY Interface Evaluation Board, I observed that the termination resistors for RX_P and RX_N are 2 kΩ resistors with part number CRCW25122K00JNEG, in a 2512 package.

However, based on the design calculations, the current through these resistors is less than 20 mA, and the power dissipation is under 1 W. This suggests that a smaller package, such as 0805, would typically be sufficient.

Could you please clarify the reasoning behind using a 2512 package in this case?
