ESD224: Review circuit operation

We are designing a board that can extend HDMI between PC and Monitor. Please let me know if the circuit diagram below works and if there are any things to be aware of. The resolution is 4K.

The schematic looks good for the 4-ch diodes.

What is the intended purpose of the TPD1E05U06 in series with the hot plug detect line?

I have configured it according to the contents included in the ESD224 Datasheet. Is it unnecessary?

Hi Sincheol,

ESD diodes should be placed in parallel to the line that needs protection.

In the schematic you are showing, TPD1E05U06 is placed in series so the ESD diode would not be clamping transients to ground as intended.

The cathode should be connected to the hotplug line and the anode should be connected to ground as shown below.

The image from the ESD224 datasheet places TPD1E05U06 in parallel the same way the ESD224 and TPD4E05U06 are connected.
