TCA9511A: Maximum SCL clock frequency

Part Number: TCA9511A

Tool/software:

Hi All,

I have a question about the TCA9511A.

In 6.6 Timing Requirements below, it says min 400kHz.

If an SCL with a transmission speed of 400kHz or less is input, is there a chance that transmission will not be performed correctly?

Best Regards,
Ishiwata

  • This is the guaranteed maximum. Writing it in the "MIN" column is correct.

As an example, consider three chips.
Chip A can handle all frequencies between 0 Hz and 432 kHz.
Chip B can handle all frequencies between 0 Hz and 400 kHz.
Chip C can handle all frequencies between 0 Hz and 456 kHz.
For all chips, the minimum frequency is 0 Hz. The chips have different maximum frequencies, but the maximum frequency that can be guaranteed for all chips is the smallest of these three values, i.e., the maximum frequency is at least 400 kHz, i.e., the minimum maximum frequency is 400 kHz.

  • Hi Ishiwata-san,

Today is a TI holiday- responses will be delayed and the team will get back to you as soon as possible.

    Regards,

    Jack

  • Ishiwata,

In addition to Clemens' comments, this device is rated for I2C operation between 0 to 400 kHz.
