DS320PR1601: gen5 redriver

Part Number: DS320PR1601

Tool/software:

Hi,

For our application we are using DS320PR1601 redriver, we decide to use Megtron6 dielectric.

we have differential signal routing on top, bottom, and layer 8.

refclk is routed on layer3, the pcb is 10 layer.

we intend to choose dielectric constant of 3.19, and dielectric thickness of 3.5mils on microstrip and striplines as per the discussion with pcb manufacturer.

is it okay to route with 6.5mils for width and spacing for microstrip and 4.5 mils and 6 mils for trace width and spacing respectively for stripline routing.

could you please suggest acceptable thickness and dielectric constant for the same.

  • Hello Shekha,

I would recommend to take a look at the DS320PR1601RSCEVM's layout to get an idea of how the EVM board spaces the high speed traces.

Its difficult for me to say exactly which thickness/dielectric constant would be best for your design, but generally Megtron 6 will offer relatively better performance over other traditional PCB materials (such as FR4) due to its lower dielectric constant.

    Best,
    David
