SN65LVDS822: SN65LVDS822 for the BGR888 display

Part Number: SN65LVDS822
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65DSI83,

Tool/software:

Hello, I would like to use SN65LVDS822 and SN65DSI83 for driving my BGR888 display. According to SN65LVDS822 datasheet, if the SWAP is 1, you can take BGR888 output , if the SWAP is 0, you can take RGB888 output. I check from figure 19 and I think, this situation must be opposite. If the SWAP is 0, you can take BGR888 output.

Which one is correct? I am a little confused.

Thanks.

  • Hi Hatice,

The "Figure 19. Pin Assignments With SWAP" answers this question. It shows the pinouts for both SWAP settings, and how they should be connected to the RGB pins respectively. And this matches the "Pin Functions" table for Data bus output as well.

I would suggest to check the RGB or GBR color numbering of the display pins, and match them accordingly.

It could be confusing to use RGB888 or BGR888 naming, so it would be best to connect the pins accordingly based on SWAP pin setting.

Also, SWAP output setting doesn't direct mention RGB88/BGR888 as the configuration, it only shares the difference in pinouts.

Please let me know if that answers your question.

    Best regards,
    Ikram
