Hi Akshay,
The latency would be time between data received and output, which would not be very significant since the DSI86 only buffers one line of video before starting DP transmission. The delay you are referring to between data sent and display turning on may just be related to the initialization.
Please check that you are following the "8.4.2 Power-Up Sequence" for the initialization sequence. The final step is setting VSTREAM_ENABLE to enable DP output. There should not be significant delay between this step and display turning on.
Is the 2 seconds time due to the full initialization sequence? If you need this to be faster then please check the display backlight enabling, link training time, EDID transactions, etc.
Best regards,
Ikram
I probed the data on a scope , I can see the data on Display port lane, probed near the mini DP connector, but even then the time oscilloscope shows data and the time display monitor shows data has 2 seconds difference
Hi Akshay,
Is the 2 seconds difference the time for the system to power-up and initialize?
As we mentioned, while the device is powered up and transmitting, the "latency" for video passthrough would not be very significant since the DSI86 only buffers one line of video before starting DP transmission.
If this is related to power-up and initialization, they it would help if you had an estimate of the time it takes to power-on, initialize, link training DisplayPort, and video enable.
If there is a latency issue, then could you share how you measured this data?
Best regards,
Ikram
Hi Ikram
The issue is between DP data coming on the DP port versus monitor starting to display , So I think the TI conversion chip is not the issue here
We probe the DP lines on oscilloscope we can it coming , once it is seen on oscilloscope , after 2 seconds it display starts showing the video being streamed
Hi Akshay,
From my understanding then this would be an issue with the display. You could ask the display vendor for suggestions about faster initialization and timing when it is enabled.
I will close this thread for now. Please let us know if you have further questions.
Best regards,
Ikram
Sorry for the confusion, we were probing using low end scope and Readings were wrong, from the power on of the board, dp lines are toggling after 2.5 seconds, issue could be the code or the DSI to DP chip, i will post more details shortly, blue is main input 12V, green is aux, yellow is data
