TCAN1463-Q1: Wake pin resistor calculation

Part Number: TCAN1463-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1043-Q1, TCAN1043DEVM

Tool/software:

In EVM board Rseries and Rbias is of 20k and 33k. How is this value obtained?

In datasheet Rbias maximum value must be less than 330kohm is that why 33.2k is used in EVM?

  • Hi Anjana,

The sentence following that 330 KOhms also states that it is recommended to use < 50K Ohms, so 33K is a reasonable value.

    Regards,

    Sean

  • For Rseries it is recommended to use  < 50K Ohms. If I take 33.2k as RSeries I am getting Rbias as 300k according to the equation in section 9.4.1.5.2 .Here Rbias is taken as 20k what is the reason for choosing this value as Rbias.

  • I believe those resistor values come from TCAN1043DEVM, you can find the same section in TCAN1043-Q1 datasheet to see how those values are calculated, those resistors values can work on TCAN1463 so we use the same values on the EVM. Essentially for a Rseris = 33.2K you can choose any Rbias < 300K Ohms. The pullup strength will increase if you choose a smaller value.
