DP83869HM: SI Analysis IBIS Model

Part Number: DP83869HM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83869

Tool/software:

Hi,

We are using the AM6442BSFFHAALV processor and the DP83867IRRGZT PHY, and we would like to confirm few GPIO pins RX_CLK & RX_data got a model select with a binary ID, what is the meaning of it. Please, explain and which one to be used. I am attaching the model selector window for our reference. Kindly, help us slot out this issue.

  • The Actual part number is DP83869HMRGZT,

    DP83867IRRGZT

  • Hi,

The 4 digitals in the middle of each model corresponds to the MAC_IMPEDANCE_CTRL bits (Register offset 0x170h). The MAC_IMPEDNACE_CTRL bits is the impedance control for MAC the I/Os: Output impedance approximate range from 35-70Ω in 16 steps. Lowest being 1111 and highest being 0000. So for instance, the GPIO_1000 would be around 50 Ohms.

The 1.8V, 2.5V, and 3.3V corresponds the DP83869 VDDID and depends on your design. It is the I/O power which can be 1.8V, 2.5V, or 3.3V.

    Thanks

    David

  • Hello,

The different models available correspond to the different impedance settings of the device. DP83869 has the ability to change output impedance to counter non-optimal layout, which can impact overshoot/undershoot as well as setup and hold times. This correlates to Reg 0x170[4:1]. You can simulate based upon which configuration you would like.

    Sincerely,
    Gerome
