Hi Sir,
My customer need to extend its I2S length to 800mm for linking their two PCB boards. Are SN65MLVD047/48 good for 1.8V I2S application? Or any other suggestion for I2S buffer? Thanks for your kindly help.

Hi Gary,
These devices have LVTTL single ended inputs - so 1.8V signaling would not be read by the M-LVDS devices correctly.
You would need level translators before and after in the following flow:
I2S -> 1.8V to 3.3V -> M-LVDS quad Driver -> M-LVDS bus -> M-LVDS quad Receiver -> 3.3V to 1.8V -> I2S
It would be able to do the length extension - but we don't have any 1.8V devices that will work (our 1.8V devices are serializers and a couple receivers - but no transmitters)
I am going to loop in our level translator team to see if we can pair the M-LVDS devices with a translator to meet the goals of the application.
If you could also let us know what speed you are aiming for - the M-LVDS devices chosen are rated to 200Mbps - but if your I2S signal is slower than that please let us know so it can potentially increase the potential matches for what you need.
Best,
Parker Dodson
Hello Gary,
Correct me if I'm wrong here but I2S is a 3-wire interface. If that's correct, then I would recommend the SN74AXC4T245 which supports 200Mbps and 1.8V <-> 3.3V translation.
