TCAN2847-Q1: LDO

Part Number: TCAN2847-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi team,

1. Is there any risk if the VCC1 outputs 250mA and the VCC2 outputs 200mA at 125 temperatures?

2.May I know if the LDO VCC1 and VCC2 can be used in parallel?

Regards,

Ivy

  • Hi Ivy,

    1. As long as the junction temperature does not exceed the maximum rating, then the device will perform as expected. However, if operating at the max current for both outputs while ambient temperature is at 125C, then this will likely exceed the junction temperature. So generally no, it is best to not have both VCC outputs at max current for extended periods of time.

    2. LDOs cannot be used in parallel. The LDOs will constantly fight over the voltage as they will have different voltage regulation points. This will eventually lead to an imbalance in current draw and has the potential to cause excess heat from the constant switching.
The alterative is that you can do load sharing with VEXCC and VCC1 - there is a specific option for this if more current is needed.

Let me know if that answers your questions!

    Best,

    Ethan

  • Hi Ethan,

Thanks for your comments, it's clear.
