What if input pixel clock frequency is less than 25MHz for TFP403?

If I can find a DVI source that has less than 25MHz pixel clock, what could happen if I connect this DVI source to TFP403? The datasheet says minimum pixel freuquency is 25MHz. If I change EDID timing setting to lower pixel clock frequency for example 19MHz, will the DVI source (for example video card) will generate a 19MHz pixel clock video signal?

Hi Jonathan,

The official DVI spec lists a minimum of 25.175MHz, for VGA resolution. The TFP403 has design margin below that, but 25MHz is the spec min.

Hello Jonathan,

The 25MHz minimum frequency is a requirement by the DVI Specification.

If your pixel clock is less than 25MHz, the TFP403 will keep de-serializing the signal but that won't be a DVI signal.

Also, there is no support for the device working out of its compliance specification.
